Turning Rain into Rainbows
Sonya and Lars selected the breathtaking Pemaquid Penisula in Maine for their June destination wedding.
They currently reside in Hordaland, Norway. Sonya has deep roots in Maine and has had family vacations in this region since childhood. Her parents still have a summer home in the Damariscotta Region.
The color palette of swag greens, navy blue and touches of gold was selected. With the brides gown and the bridesmaids gown selected it was time for the tuxedo’s to be chosen.

Sonya has deep roots in Maine and has had family vacations in this region since childhood. Her parents still have a summer home in the Damariscotta Region.
The color palette of swag greens, navy blue and touches of gold was selected. With the brides gown and the bridesmaids gown selected it was time for the tuxedo’s to be chosen. They chose Shelley’s Flowers to provide the Men’s Formal wear and Tuxedo’s. This was a tricky- we ended with crisp Navy Tuxedo’s – ivory shirts and clover floral bow ties.
All the months of preparation were well worth the effort as this couple had a beautiful destination wedding weekend along the rocky coast of Maine. They kicked off the festivities with a traditional lobster bake at the quaint Long Cove Association in Chamberlain. The quests were treated to a traditional Maine Lobster Bake. Bright Local Maine Garden flowers were used for the whimsical centerpieces- Zinnias , stock and ageratum were a few of the blooms selected. This was a chance for everyone to meet and greet and get to know each other.
The Bridal Party stayed at the Bradley Inn in New Harbor- A morning started off with fog, rain and drizzle- Even though overcast and not bright and sunny the photo’s were amazing.
The sky’s opened up and it began to pour as the Sonja and her bridesmaids arrived at St Andrews Catholic Church in Newcastle. The Staff from Country Coach Charter’s – supplied practical photo ready umbrella’s to keep everyone warm and dry and still camera ready for pictures.
Shades of whites, ivories and creams with touches of soft pinks and peaches were used to create all the ceremony flowers. The church was adorned with lavish overflowing urns. Pews were finished with gathers of soft babies breath tied with a satin bow and streamers.
After the Nuptials the bride and groom rode to their formal pictures in a stately vintage Bentley. The nautical theme reception was held at the waterfront venue- The Contented Sole. Beth, the owner of the the venue created a spectacular fare of delectable food and drink for the guest. This quaint New England venue was the perfect spot to host local guests as well as many folks traveling internationally.
As the guests tossed the happy couple and every enjoyed a delightful reception- Our Maine weather lived up to its reputation at times shining shine and other times downpouring rain.
Sonja and Lars were a great couple to get to know and work with. There were some special logistics involved. As the newlywed’s make their home in Norway. We were honored to be part of such a spectacular celebration. All our best wishes to this happy couple.
